Fix: openstack/glance@74b067dGHSA-c8w9-83vg-r8vv is a Information Exposure vulnerability in glance. A fix is available for glance — see the affected versions and patch details below.
OpenStack Glance is vulnerable to Exposure of Sensitive Information
EPSS Exploitation Probability
EPSS (Exploit Prediction Scoring System) is a daily probability model maintained by FIRST.org. It estimates the likelihood a CVE will be exploited in production environments within the next 30 days, derived from real-world threat intelligence signals.
Real-World Exposure
glanceReal-time download stats are indexed for npm and PyPI packages. This vulnerability affects PyPI packages — download data is not available via public APIs for these ecosystems.
Description
The v1 API in OpenStack Glance Essex (2012.1), Folsom (2012.2), and Grizzly, when using the single-tenant Swift or S3 store, reports the location field, which allows remote authenticated users to obtain the operator's backend credentials via a request for a cached image.

| 🐍PyPI | glance | all versions | 11.0.0a0pip install --upgrade 'glance==11.0.0a0' |
Detection & mitigation playbook
Open-source dependencyDetect
Scan your dependency tree (package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, requirements.txt, go.sum, etc.) for glance, including transitive dependencies — a direct dependency you never call can still pull in a vulnerable version.
Fix
Update glance to 11.0.0a0 or later, then make sure no transitive (indirect) dependency still pins the vulnerable range — O3 confirms GHSA-c8w9-83vg-r8vv is resolved across your whole dependency graph.
Workarounds
If you can't upgrade right away: gate or disable the affected feature, validate untrusted input at the boundary, and avoid passing attacker-controlled data into the vulnerable path. O3's runtime protection blocks exploitation in production as an interim safeguard until the upgrade lands.
How O3 protects you
O3 Security's impact-aware SCA analyses which vulnerable code paths your application actually calls, so a match like GHSA-c8w9-83vg-r8vv can be triaged on real exposure rather than presence alone.
Tailored to GHSA-c8w9-83vg-r8vv. Runtime protection reduces exposure until a permanent patch is applied and verified — it complements patching, it doesn't replace it.
