Real-time download stats are indexed for npm and PyPI packages. This vulnerability affects Packagist packages — download data is not available via public APIs for these ecosystems.

Description

A Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) was discovered in 'Magmi 0.7.22'. The vulnerability exists due to insufficient filtration of user-supplied data (prefix) passed to the 'magmi-git-master/magmi/web/ajax_gettime.php' URL. An attacker could execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a browser in the context of the vulnerable website.

Detection & mitigation playbook

Open-source dependency
  1. Detect

Scan your dependency tree (package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, requirements.txt, go.sum, etc.) for dweeves/magmi. O3's reachability analysis confirms whether the vulnerable code path is actually invoked in your application, so you act on real exposure instead of every transitive match.

  2. Fix

Update dweeves/magmi to 0.7.24 or later, then make sure no transitive (indirect) dependency still pins the vulnerable range — O3 confirms CVE-2017-7391 is resolved across your whole dependency graph.

  3. Workarounds

If you can't upgrade right away: gate or disable the affected feature, validate untrusted input at the boundary, and avoid passing attacker-controlled data into the vulnerable path. O3's runtime protection blocks exploitation in production as an interim safeguard until the upgrade lands.

  4. How O3 protects you

O3 pinpoints whether CVE-2017-7391 is reachable in your code and exactly where to fix it, then blocks exploitation in production at runtime until the patched version is deployed.

Tailored to CVE-2017-7391. Runtime protection reduces exposure until a permanent patch is applied and verified — it complements patching, it doesn't replace it.
