Description
A weakness has been identified in Kamailio up to 5.8.8/6.0.7/6.1.4/6.2.0-dev1. The impacted element is the function shm_malloc of the file src/modules/cdp/receiver.c of the component CDP Diameter Receiver. Executing a manipulation can lead to heap-based buffer overflow. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploit has been made available to the public and could be used for attacks. Upgrading to version 6.0.8 is sufficient to resolve this issue. This patch is called 38711a3e788de0130d48cb485578c482b57d9351/4f62235b6f477b649c5cc18b0c81b4e26c949b98/4f62235b6f477b649c5cc18b0c81b4e26c949b98. You should upgrade the affected component.
Detection & mitigation playbook
VulnerabilityDetect
Scan your dependency tree (package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, requirements.txt, go.sum, etc.) for the affected component, including transitive dependencies — a direct dependency you never call can still pull in a vulnerable version.
Remediation status
No patched version of the affected component has shipped for CVE-2026-93962 yet. Where your build allows, override or pin the dependency away from the vulnerable range, and apply any maintainer-recommended mitigation.
Mitigate without a patch
If you can't upgrade right away: gate or disable the affected feature, validate untrusted input at the boundary, and avoid passing attacker-controlled data into the vulnerable path. O3's runtime protection blocks exploitation in production as an interim safeguard until the upgrade lands.
How O3 protects you
O3 Security's impact-aware SCA analyses which vulnerable code paths your application actually calls, so a match like CVE-2026-93962 can be triaged on real exposure rather than presence alone.
Tailored to CVE-2026-93962. Runtime protection reduces exposure until a permanent patch is applied and verified — it complements patching, it doesn't replace it.
