Description

Spring AI's spring-ai-bedrock-converse contains a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in BedrockProxyChatModel when processing multimodal messages that include user-supplied media URLs. Insufficient validation of those URLs allows an attacker to induce the server to issue HTTP requests to unintended internal or external destinations. This issue affects Spring AI: from 1.0.0 before 1.0.5, from 1.1.0 before 1.1.4.

Detection & mitigation playbook

Open-source dependency
  1. Detect

Scan your dependency tree (package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, requirements.txt, go.sum, etc.) for org.springframework.ai:spring-ai-bedrock-converse, including transitive dependencies — a direct dependency you never call can still pull in a vulnerable version.

  2. Fix

Update org.springframework.ai:spring-ai-bedrock-converse to 1.0.5 or later, then make sure no transitive (indirect) dependency still pins the vulnerable range — O3 confirms CVE-2026-22742 is resolved across your whole dependency graph.

  3. Workarounds

Restrict outbound requests from the affected component to an allowlist of hosts, block access to link-local and internal address ranges at the network layer, and require authentication on internal services so a forged request cannot reach them unauthenticated.
