Description

Impact

the default .htaccess file has some restrictions in the access to PHP files to only allow specific PHP files to be executed in the root of the application.

This logic isn't correct, as the regex in the second FilesMatch only checks the filename, not the full path.

Patches

Please upgrade to 3.3.5 or 4.2.0

Detection & mitigation playbook

Open-source dependency
  1. Detect

Scan your dependency tree (package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, requirements.txt, go.sum, etc.) for mautic/core, including transitive dependencies — a direct dependency you never call can still pull in a vulnerable version.

  2. Fix

Update mautic/core to 3.3.5 or later, then make sure no transitive (indirect) dependency still pins the vulnerable range — O3 confirms CVE-2022-25769 is resolved across your whole dependency graph.

  3. Workarounds

Cap what an attacker can consume: apply request size, rate and timeout limits in front of the affected component, and run it with memory and CPU limits so exhaustion degrades one worker rather than the whole service.
