Description
A weakness has been identified in BerriAI litellm up to 1.82.2. Affected by this vulnerability is the function load_openapi_spec_async of the file litellm/proxy/_experimental/mcp_server/openapi_to_mcp_generator.py of the component MCP OpenAPI Spec Loader. This manipulation of the argument spec_path causes server-side request forgery. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. The exploit has been made available to the public and could be used for attacks. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure.

Open-source dependencyDetect
Scan your dependency tree (package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, requirements.txt, go.sum, etc.) for litellm, including transitive dependencies — a direct dependency you never call can still pull in a vulnerable version.
Remediation status
No patched version of litellm has shipped for GHSA-c693-x898-5g4h yet. Where your build allows, override or pin the dependency away from the vulnerable range, and apply any maintainer-recommended mitigation.
Mitigate without a patch
Restrict outbound requests from the affected component to an allowlist of hosts, block access to link-local and internal address ranges at the network layer, and require authentication on internal services so a forged request cannot reach them unauthenticated.
Fixing This On Your OS
If you run this on a Linux distribution, patch through your package manager against the distro's own security advisory below — it tracks the exact backported fix for your release, which can ship on a different timeline (and sometimes a different severity) than the upstream project.
This Moderate severity Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) flaw in BerriAI litellm, present in Red Hat products such as Ansible Automation Platform and OpenShift AI, allows a remote attacker to manipulate the `spec_path` argument. This manipulation can force the server to make unauthorized requests, potentially leading…
