Description
Insufficient Session Expiration vulnerability in Apache Airflow Fab Provider.
This issue affects Apache Airflow Fab Provider: before 1.5.2.
When user password has been changed with admin CLI, the sessions for that user have not been cleared, leading to insufficient session expiration, thus logged users could continue to be logged in even after the password was changed. This only happened when the password was changed with CLI. The problem does not happen in case change was done with webserver thus this is different from CVE-2023-40273 which was addressed in Apache-Airflow 2.7.0
Users are recommended to upgrade to version 1.5.2, which fixes the issue.

Detection & mitigation playbook
Open-source dependencyDetect
Scan your dependency tree (package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, requirements.txt, go.sum, etc.) for apache-airflow-providers-fab, including transitive dependencies — a direct dependency you never call can still pull in a vulnerable version.
Fix
Update apache-airflow-providers-fab to 1.5.2 or later, then make sure no transitive (indirect) dependency still pins the vulnerable range — O3 confirms GHSA-8863-4qmg-fr45 is resolved across your whole dependency graph.
Workarounds
If you can't upgrade right away: gate or disable the affected feature, validate untrusted input at the boundary, and avoid passing attacker-controlled data into the vulnerable path. O3's runtime protection blocks exploitation in production as an interim safeguard until the upgrade lands.
How O3 protects you
O3 Security's impact-aware SCA analyses which vulnerable code paths your application actually calls, so a match like GHSA-8863-4qmg-fr45 can be triaged on real exposure rather than presence alone.
Tailored to GHSA-8863-4qmg-fr45. Runtime protection reduces exposure until a permanent patch is applied and verified — it complements patching, it doesn't replace it.
