Description
A flaw was found in Keycloak. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending specially crafted SOAP requests to the SAML ECP (Security Assertion Markup Language Enhanced Client or Proxy) endpoint with varying client IDs. By observing distinct faultstrings in the responses, the attacker can determine the client's protocol type, leading to information disclosure.

Open-source dependencyDetect
Scan your dependency tree (package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, requirements.txt, go.sum, etc.) for org.keycloak:keycloak-services, including transitive dependencies — a direct dependency you never call can still pull in a vulnerable version.
Fix
No patched version of org.keycloak:keycloak-services has shipped for CVE-2026-9794 yet. Where your build allows, override or pin the dependency away from the vulnerable range, and apply any maintainer-recommended mitigation.
Workarounds
Assume what was exposed is already known: rotate any credential, token or key that the affected component could return, restrict the endpoint to callers that genuinely need it, and strip sensitive fields from responses and error output at the boundary rather than relying on the client not to read them.
Fixing This On Your OS
If you run this on a Linux distribution, patch through your package manager against the distro's own security advisory below — it tracks the exact backported fix for your release, which can ship on a different timeline (and sometimes a different severity) than the upstream project.
This Moderate-severity information disclosure flaw in Keycloak allows an unauthenticated, remote attacker to enumerate client protocol types. By sending specially crafted SOAP requests to the SAML ECP endpoint and analyzing the resulting faultstrings, an attacker can discern the protocol associated with different…
