Description

The report details a heap Use-After-Free (UAF) vulnerability within the android.hardware.automotive.evs-default HAL service, stemming from unsynchronized access to an std::unordered_map. An unprivileged application with access to the EVS manager can trigger this UAF by making concurrent calls to setExtendedInfo and getExtendedInfo, potentially enabling code execution within the privileged HAL process.

Detection & mitigation playbook

Vendor / appliance
  1. Detect

Inventory every google android deployment and check each version against the affected-products list above.

  2. Remediation status

The records we use list no fixed version for CVE-2026-58925. Check the google android advisory for a patched release, and apply the workarounds below until you can upgrade.

  3. Mitigate without a patch

Constrain what reaches the vulnerable code: limit the size and shape of untrusted input, isolate the affected component in a sandboxed or least-privileged process, and enable the platform's memory-safety mitigations (ASLR, stack protector, hardened allocator) so an out-of-bounds access is more likely to fail closed than to be exploitable. Alongside that, restrict the management interface to trusted networks and apply the vendor's recommended configuration mitigations.
