Description
The vulnerability is a heap out-of-bounds read in the EVS HAL's getStreamList() method. An attacker can craft a CameraDesc.metadata byte array, which is parsed without validation, leading to an out-of-bounds read at an attacker-controlled offset within the HAL process's heap. The read data is then exfiltrated back to the attacker, potentially leaking sensitive information like pointers and buffer handles.

Remediation status
The records we use list no fixed version for CVE-2026-58924. Check the google android advisory for a patched release, and apply the workarounds below until you can upgrade.
Mitigate without a patch
Stop feeding it untrusted input: reject or quarantine files and payloads from unverified sources until you can upgrade, restrict accepted formats to the ones you actually need, and run the parsing or decoding step in a least-privileged sandbox or short-lived worker so a crash or corrupted read cannot reach the rest of the process. Alongside that, restrict the management interface to trusted networks and apply the vendor's recommended configuration mitigations.
