Description

IBM API Connect 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 could allow a remote authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the victim's browser due to cross-site scripting. Detection & mitigation playbook

Vendor / appliance
  1. Detect

Inventory every ibm api connect deployment and check each version against the affected-products list above.

  2. Remediation status

The records we use list no fixed version for CVE-2026-16709. Check the ibm api connect advisory for a patched release, and apply the workarounds below until you can upgrade.

  3. Mitigate without a patch

Escape or sanitise the affected output on the server side rather than relying on client-side filtering, and add a Content-Security-Policy that blocks inline script execution so injected markup cannot run even if it reaches the page. Alongside that, restrict the management interface to trusted networks and apply the vendor's recommended configuration mitigations.
