Description

Scriban and Scriban.Signed before 7.5.3 contain uncontrolled recursion flaws in which postfix member, indexer, and call chains bypass ExpressionDepthLimit, array comparison lacks depth and cycle checks, and object.eval bypasses RecursiveLimit. Attackers who can supply templates can trigger an uncatchable StackOverflowException that terminates the host process.

Detection & mitigation playbook

Vendor / appliance
  1. Detect

Inventory every scriban scriban deployment and check each version against the affected-products list above.

  2. Fix

Apply the scriban scriban security patch or hotfix for CVE-2026-124439 on the affected version, following the vendor advisory for your exact build.

  3. Workarounds

Constrain what reaches the vulnerable code: limit the size and shape of untrusted input, isolate the affected component in a sandboxed or least-privileged process, and enable the platform's memory-safety mitigations (ASLR, stack protector, hardened allocator) so an out-of-bounds access is more likely to fail closed than to be exploitable. Alongside that, restrict the management interface to trusted networks and apply the vendor's recommended configuration mitigations.
