Description
A flaw was found in the theme resource endpoint of Keycloak, an open-source identity and access management solution. The issue occurs because the server fails to validate theme names before using them as keys for an on-disk gzip cache. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this by sending many requests with unique, fabricated theme names, leading to persistent disk space exhaustion that survives server restarts and causes service disruptions.
Detection & mitigation playbook
VulnerabilityDetect
Identify every host running the affected component and compare the installed build against the fixed version below — for source-built or distro-packaged software the version string, not a lockfile, is the source of truth (`dpkg -l`, `rpm -q`, or the binary's own `--version`).
Remediation status
The records we use list no fixed release for CVE-2026-110932. Check the upstream advisory for a patched version, and apply the exposure-reduction steps below in the meantime.
Mitigate without a patch
Cap what an attacker can consume: apply request size, rate and timeout limits in front of the affected component, and run it with memory and CPU limits so exhaustion degrades one worker rather than the whole service.
Fixing This On Your OS
If you run this on a Linux distribution, patch through your package manager against the distro's own security advisory below — it tracks the exact backported fix for your release, which can ship on a different timeline (and sometimes a different severity) than the upstream project.
The Red Hat Product Security team has assessed the severity of this vulnerability as Important, given that it can be exploited by an unauthenticated remote attacker to cause a persistent Denial of Service. Successful exploitation allows an attacker to exhaust the servers disk space, leading to service failure and…
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.Source: Red Hat security advisory for CVE-2026-110932 (CC BY 4.0)
