What this malware does

Malicious package. wallet-tracking is a PyPI cryptocurrency-wallet information stealer. It collects wallet data on the victim host and exfiltrates it to an attacker-controlled Discord webhook. The source also still contains an unconfigured placeholder webhook URL (.../api/webhooks/YOUR_URL) beside the live one, indicating a copy-paste stealer template. Classification: information stealer. The package provides no legitimate functionality, so all published versions are malicious. First observed by wormsign on 2026-05-30. Full indicators are published at the reference below.

Detection & response playbook

Credential / info stealer
  1. Find it

Search your lockfiles and build artifacts for wallet-tracking (6 malicious versions).

  2. If you installed it — respond

wallet-tracking is built to steal secrets, so assume every credential the build or runtime could read is compromised. Remove it from your project and lockfile, then rotate ALL exposed secrets — npm/registry tokens, cloud keys, CI/CD secrets, SSH keys, and any .env values — from a known-clean machine. Audit logs for unauthorized use of those credentials.

  3. Did it already run?

If wallet-tracking was installed, its post-install payload may already have run. Removing the package does not undo that — check outbound connections and credential use from the install window onward.
