What this malware does

The package's module entry dist/index.mjs runs a top-level IIFE on import that chmods dist/math-calc.bin to 0755 and spawns it detached. dist/math-calc.bin is a Linux x86_64 ELF linked against libssl/libcrypto implementing a RedShell-style remote-access agent: /bin/sh-backed command execution, HTTP downloaders that fetch payloads from 217.60.77.63 under /Others/ and /SC/ paths and execute them from /tmp or via memfd_create, a SOCKS5 proxy, TCP port forwarders, credential/SSH-key/database collectors, and a persistence installer that drops a systemd user unit at ~/.config/systemd/user/svc-update.service (masquerading as 'System Update Service') with Restart=always. A sha256 'integrity check' is present in the JS wrapper but its mismatch branch only logs and still proceeds, and the wrapper's comments and log strings ('Native accelerator loaded and verified.', 'Performance mode enabled.') present the implant as a native math accelerator despite the package having no plausible need for a native binary. Any consumer that imports the package hands a remote operator interactive shell, file/credential exfiltration, arbitrary payload execution, and persistence on the installer host.

Detection & response playbook

Credential / info stealer
  1. Find it

Scan your lockfiles (package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, yarn.lock, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, etc.) and build artifacts for streak-math-metrics (version 1.0.0). O3 Security's supply-chain scanner checks every dependency against known-malicious package intelligence at install time and in CI, flagging streak-math-metrics across your stack and pipelines.

  2. If you installed it — respond

streak-math-metrics is built to steal secrets, so assume every credential the build or runtime could read is compromised. Remove it from your project and lockfile, then rotate ALL exposed secrets — npm/registry tokens, cloud keys, CI/CD secrets, SSH keys, and any .env values — from a known-clean machine. Audit logs for unauthorized use of those credentials.

  3. Did it already run?

If streak-math-metrics was ever installed, its post-install/runtime payload may have already executed. O3's L7 egress monitoring and runtime eBPF sensors detect the credential exfiltration or command-and-control callback after install and block the malicious outbound channel, so you catch and contain the actual compromise — not just the presence of the package.

  4. How O3 protects you

O3 blocks streak-math-metrics before install through its supply-chain scanner, and if it has already run, detects and severs the exfiltration or C2 callback at runtime through L7 egress monitoring and eBPF.
