What this malware does

loader-utils-kit ships lib/contract.js, byte-identical to the pino-testkit payload: an obfuscated module that decodes and evaluates code at load. It is a new name for the pino-testkit (MAL-2026-16484) campaign; the file hashes below match that record's evidence. The package presents itself as an ordinary utility, so the code runs on import or install without the user knowing.

Detection & response playbook

Malicious package
  1. Find it

Search your lockfiles and build artifacts for loader-utils-kit (2 malicious versions).

  2. If you installed it — respond

Remove loader-utils-kit from your project and lockfile, then assume any secrets accessible to the build or runtime were exposed: rotate API keys, tokens, and credentials, and audit for unexpected outbound activity or persistence.

  3. Did it already run?

If loader-utils-kit was installed, its post-install payload may already have run. Removing the package does not undo that — check outbound connections and credential use from the install window onward.
