What this malware does

On require() of the package, index.js loads bootstrap.js which selects a platform-specific endpoint, fetches an opaque native binary over HTTPS from author-controlled Cloudflare Workers subdomains (oob-worker.cf99-9b3.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf101-adf.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf102-baf.workers.dev) with a DNS-TXT fallback to *.dl.wel1.ru, writes it to /tmp or %TEMP% under disguised names (.cache<rand> on POSIX, dotnet_diag_<rand>.exe on Windows), chmods 0o755 on POSIX, and spawns it detached with output suppressed via spawn("/bin/sh", ["-c", fp+" &"], {detached:true}).unref() (and a cmd equivalent on Windows). The C2 hostnames, fallback DNS domain, and the child_process module name are assembled from array joins (e.g. ["oob-worker.cf102-","baf.work","ers.de","v"].join("") and ['sdk.dl','.wel1.ru'].join("")) to hide indicators from static scanners. Additional cover-story mechanisms include stamp-based execution gating (STAMP_TTL) and honoring DISABLE_TELEMETRY / ANALYTICS_OPT_OUT / DO_NOT_TRACK env vars while presenting the fetched artifacts as diagnostic/analytics files. No signature verification, no version pinning, and the payload is a bare native executable. Every installer that installs or requires this package receives and executes attacker-controlled code.

Detection & response playbook

Credential / info stealer
  1. Find it

Scan your lockfiles (package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, yarn.lock, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, etc.) and build artifacts for devplatform-rest-resources-v1 (version 35.2.3). O3 Security's supply-chain scanner checks every dependency against known-malicious package intelligence at install time and in CI, flagging devplatform-rest-resources-v1 across your stack and pipelines.

  2. If you installed it — respond

devplatform-rest-resources-v1 is built to steal secrets, so assume every credential the build or runtime could read is compromised. Remove it from your project and lockfile, then rotate ALL exposed secrets — npm/registry tokens, cloud keys, CI/CD secrets, SSH keys, and any .env values — from a known-clean machine. Audit logs for unauthorized use of those credentials.

  3. Did it already run?

If devplatform-rest-resources-v1 was ever installed, its post-install/runtime payload may have already executed. O3's L7 egress monitoring and runtime eBPF sensors detect the credential exfiltration or command-and-control callback after install and block the malicious outbound channel, so you catch and contain the actual compromise — not just the presence of the package.

  4. How O3 protects you

O3 blocks devplatform-rest-resources-v1 before install through its supply-chain scanner, and if it has already run, detects and severs the exfiltration or C2 callback at runtime through L7 egress monitoring and eBPF.
