What this malware does

On require of this package, index.js loads ext.js, which fetches a platform-specific binary from a rotating list of Cloudflare workers.dev hosts assembled at runtime via array.join to defeat static string scanning (oob-worker.cf99-9b3.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf100-416.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf101-adf.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf102-baf.workers.dev), with a DNS-TXT chunked fallback channel via *.dl.wel1.ru (sdk, ext, pkg, net). The fetched binary is written to /tmp or %TEMP% under a cover-story name impersonating.NET diagnostics tooling (dotnet_diag<hex>.exe on Windows,.cache_<hex> on POSIX), chmod 0755 on POSIX, and spawned detached via /bin/sh -c or cmd.exe. Any consumer that requires the package on install/import receives arbitrary attacker-controlled code execution on the host.

Any computer that has this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.

Detection & response playbook

Typosquat
  1. Find it

Scan your lockfiles (package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, yarn.lock, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, etc.) and build artifacts for devplatform-react-rest-client (version 35.4.8). O3 Security's supply-chain scanner checks every dependency against known-malicious package intelligence at install time and in CI, flagging devplatform-react-rest-client across your stack and pipelines.

  2. If you installed it — respond

devplatform-react-rest-client is a typosquat — you almost certainly intended a legitimately-named package. Remove devplatform-react-rest-client, install the correct package, and rotate any secrets exposed during the install since post-install scripts may have already run.

  3. Did it already run?

If devplatform-react-rest-client was ever installed, its post-install/runtime payload may have already executed. O3's L7 egress monitoring and runtime eBPF sensors detect the credential exfiltration or command-and-control callback after install and block the malicious outbound channel, so you catch and contain the actual compromise — not just the presence of the package.

  4. How O3 protects you

O3 blocks devplatform-react-rest-client before install through its supply-chain scanner, and if it has already run, detects and severs the exfiltration or C2 callback at runtime through L7 egress monitoring and eBPF.
