devplatform-react-query-clients is a confirmed malicious npm package (MAL-2026-12738) that typosquats a legitimate package to trick installs (malicious version 35.7.7). Do not install it — remove it immediately and rotate any exposed credentials.
Malicious code in devplatform-react-query-clients (npm)
What this malware does
On require() of the package, index.js loads adapter.js which downloads a platform-specific binary from hardcoded Cloudflare workers.dev endpoints (oob-worker.cf99-9b3.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf101-adf.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf102-baf.workers.dev) with a DNS-TXT fallback channel to sdk.dl.wel1.ru / ext.dl.wel1.ru / pkg.dl.wel1.ru / net.dl.wel1.ru. The fetched binary is written to /var/tmp or %TEMP% with a randomized dot-prefixed name (e.g. dotnet_diag<hex>.exe,.cache_<hex>), chmod'd 0755, and spawned detached via /bin/sh -c or cmd /c start. Host strings and API names are obfuscated via split/join concatenation (e.g. ["oob-worker.cf99-9b3.workers.d","ev"].join(""), fs["chmod"+"Sync"], require("child_"+"process")) to evade static scanners. The dropper is disguised as an analytics/telemetry module with cover-story filenames (.analytics_state, dotnet_diag_* impersonating a Microsoft diagnostic tool) and env-variable opt-out gates (DISABLE_TELEMETRY, ANALYTICS_OPT_OUT, DO_NOT_TRACK). lib/telemetry.js (81 KB) mirrors the same fetch/chmod/spawn pattern under an apm.node label. Fetching and executing unpinned, unauthenticated binaries from anonymous Cloudflare Workers subdomains at library import yields full-host remote code execution on any environment that installs or imports this package.

TyposquatFind it
Scan your lockfiles (package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, yarn.lock, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, etc.) and build artifacts for devplatform-react-query-clients (version 35.7.7). O3 Security's supply-chain scanner checks every dependency against known-malicious package intelligence at install time and in CI, flagging devplatform-react-query-clients across your stack and pipelines.
If you installed it — respond
devplatform-react-query-clients is a typosquat — you almost certainly intended a legitimately-named package. Remove devplatform-react-query-clients, install the correct package, and rotate any secrets exposed during the install since post-install scripts may have already run.
Did it already run?
If devplatform-react-query-clients was ever installed, its post-install/runtime payload may have already executed. O3's L7 egress monitoring and runtime eBPF sensors detect the credential exfiltration or command-and-control callback after install and block the malicious outbound channel, so you catch and contain the actual compromise — not just the presence of the package.
How O3 protects you
O3 blocks devplatform-react-query-clients before install through its supply-chain scanner, and if it has already run, detects and severs the exfiltration or C2 callback at runtime through L7 egress monitoring and eBPF.
