dateuuidv2 is a confirmed malicious npm package (MAL-2026-12176) that opens a backdoor for remote access (malicious versions 1.0.0, 1.0.1). Do not install it — remove it immediately and rotate any exposed credentials.

What this malware does
On require() of dateuuidv2, lib/bootstrap.js invokes extractDateISO() which reads the consumer project's README.md for a 'PORT=' line and uses those digits as key material to AES-256-GCM decrypt an embedded ciphertext into a C2 URL. The package then POSTs the installer's os.platform() and os.release() to that URL, writes the HTTP response to os.tmpdir()/temp_<timestamp>.vbs (with the extension assembled via 'v'+'b'+'s' string concatenation to evade literal-string matching), and executes the file via child_process.exec. The package's advertised purpose is a UUID/date utility; AES-GCM ciphertext for a hidden destination, README-derived key material, extension-splitting, and unconditional execution of the fetched response are evasion mechanics unrelated to any UUID functionality. Result is arbitrary code execution on any Node process that imports the module.
