What this malware does

On require(), bootstrap.js selects a platform-specific asset path and downloads a binary from one of several Cloudflare Workers hostnames whose names are assembled at runtime by joining substring arrays (e.g. 'oob-w'+'orker.cf103-070'+'.workers.dev'), with a DNS-TXT covert-channel fallback under *.dl.wel1.ru that reassembles a base64-encoded payload from numbered TXT records if HTTPS retrieval fails. The fetched bytes are written to /tmp or %TEMP% under disguised names (e.g. 'dotnet_diag.exe', '.cache_'), chmod 0755, and spawned detached via child_process (spawn('cmd'...) or spawn('/bin/sh',...)). The package advertises itself as a 'platform adapter' / 'picture gallery' — remote binary execution is not the stated purpose. A second, cover-story-labeled ('analytics-sdk') copy of the same dropper ships at lib/telemetry.js with parallel HTTPS+DNS discovery, base64 chunk assembly, chmod 0755, and spawn('/bin/sh',['-c', filePath + ' &']).

Detection & response playbook

Malicious package
  1. Find it

Scan your lockfiles (package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, yarn.lock, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, etc.) and build artifacts for bnpl-blocks-mobile-bnpl-picture-gallery (version 35.9.1). O3 Security's supply-chain scanner checks every dependency against known-malicious package intelligence at install time and in CI, flagging bnpl-blocks-mobile-bnpl-picture-gallery across your stack and pipelines.

  2. If you installed it — respond

Remove bnpl-blocks-mobile-bnpl-picture-gallery from your project and lockfile, then assume any secrets accessible to the build or runtime were exposed: rotate API keys, tokens, and credentials, and audit for unexpected outbound activity or persistence.

  3. Did it already run?

If bnpl-blocks-mobile-bnpl-picture-gallery was ever installed, its post-install/runtime payload may have already executed. O3's L7 egress monitoring and runtime eBPF sensors detect the credential exfiltration or command-and-control callback after install and block the malicious outbound channel, so you catch and contain the actual compromise — not just the presence of the package.

  4. How O3 protects you

O3 blocks bnpl-blocks-mobile-bnpl-picture-gallery before install through its supply-chain scanner, and if it has already run, detects and severs the exfiltration or C2 callback at runtime through L7 egress monitoring and eBPF.
