What this malware does

The package contents did not exhibit any behaviors associated with supply-chain attacks: no install/preinstall/postinstall lifecycle hooks fetching or executing remote content, no reads of installer credential paths (~/.aws, ~/.ssh, ~/.npmrc, browser stores), no environment-variable scraping, no hardcoded network exfiltration endpoints, no obfuscated payloads, and no persistence mechanisms. Behavior is consistent with the package's documented purpose as a Keyv storage adapter.

Any computer that has this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.

  1. Find it
