Prior to 0.71.0, when Trivy scans a Helm chart archive (.tgz), its custom tar unpacker reads each entry with io.ReadAll(tr) and no size limit. An attacker who can place a malicious .tgz file in the scanned path can craft a small compressed archive that decompresses to gigabytes, causing the Trivy process to be killed by the OS OOM killer. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.71.0.","published":"2026-06-25T16:27:33.659Z","modified":"2026-08-27T18:26:00.727959241Z","cvss":null,"epss":{"score":0.00443,"percentile":0.37157,"asOf":"2026-09-06"},"cisaKev":null,"exploitsKnown":0,"affectedPackages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/aquasecurity/trivy","fixedVersion":"0.71.0"}],"fix":{"url":"https://github.com/aquasecurity/trivy/pull/10718","label":"aquasecurity/trivy#10718"},"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/54xxx/CVE-2026-54448.json"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/aquasecurity/trivy/security/advisories/GHSA-q3fv-x8vg-qqm4"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-54448"},{"type":"FIX","url":"https://github.com/aquasecurity/trivy/pull/10718"}],"provenance":{"sources":["OSV.dev","FIRST.org (EPSS)"],"lastVerified":"2026-08-27T18:26:00.727959241Z"}}
