Prior to 9.8.0-alpha.6 and 8.6.74, he login endpoint response time differs measurably depending on whether the submitted username or email exists in the database. When a user is not found, the server responds immediately. When a user exists but the password is wrong, a bcrypt comparison runs first, adding significant latency. This timing difference allows an unauthenticated attacker to enumerate valid usernames. This vulnerability is fixed in 9.8.0-alpha.6 and 8.6.74.","published":"2026-04-07T18:11:10.514Z","modified":"2026-08-07T11:31:05.426147884Z","cvss":null,"epss":null,"cisaKev":null,"exploitsKnown":0,"affectedPackages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"parse-server","fixedVersion":"9.8.0-alpha.6"},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"parse-server","fixedVersion":"8.6.74"}],"fix":{"url":"https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/pull/10398","label":"parse-community/parse-server#10398"},"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/39xxx/CVE-2026-39321.json"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/security/advisories/GHSA-mmpq-5hcv-hf2v"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-39321"},{"type":"FIX","url":"https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/pull/10398"},{"type":"FIX","url":"https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/pull/10399"}],"provenance":{"sources":["OSV.dev","FIRST.org (EPSS)"],"lastVerified":"2026-08-07T11:31:05.426147884Z"}}
