{"id":"CVE-2026-35345","aliases":[],"url":"https://o3.security/vulnerability/CVE-2026-35345","summary":"uutils coreutils has a Link Following Issue","details":"A vulnerability in the tail utility of uutils coreutils allows for the exfiltration of sensitive file contents when using the --follow=name option. Unlike GNU tail, the uutils implementation continues to monitor a path after it has been replaced by a symbolic link, subsequently outputting the contents of the link's target. In environments where a privileged user (e.g., root) monitors a log directory, a local attacker with write access to that directory can replace a log file with a symlink to a sensitive system file (such as /etc/shadow), causing tail to disclose the contents of the sensitive file.","published":"2026-04-22T18:31:44Z","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:44.903465205Z","cvss":{"score":5.3,"severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:L/A:N"},"epss":{"score":0.00096,"percentile":0.00792,"asOf":"2026-08-12"},"cisaKev":null,"exploitsKnown":0,"affectedPackages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"coreutils","fixedVersion":null}],"fix":null,"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-35345"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://github.com/uutils/coreutils/issues/10328"},{"type":"PACKAGE","url":"https://github.com/uutils/coreutils"}],"provenance":{"sources":["OSV.dev","FIRST.org (EPSS)"],"lastVerified":"2026-09-10T03:50:44.903465205Z"}}
