Path Traversal in the kustomize-controller via a malicious `kustomization.yaml` allows an attacker to expose sensitive data from the controller’s pod filesystem and possibly privilege escalation in multi-tenancy deployments. Workarounds include automated tooling in the user's CI/CD pipeline to validate `kustomization.yaml` files conform with specific policies. This vulnerability is fixed in kustomize-controller v0.24.0 and included in flux2 v0.29.0.","published":"2022-05-06T01:10:09Z","modified":"2026-07-15T01:49:08.883810095Z","cvss":{"score":9.9,"severity":"CRITICAL","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H"},"epss":null,"cisaKev":null,"exploitsKnown":0,"affectedPackages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/fluxcd/kustomize-controller","fixedVersion":"0.24.0"},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/fluxcd/flux2","fixedVersion":"0.29.0"}],"fix":null,"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2022/24xxx/CVE-2022-24877.json"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/fluxcd/flux2/security/advisories/GHSA-j77r-2fxf-5jrw"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2022-24877"}],"provenance":{"sources":["OSV.dev","FIRST.org (EPSS)"],"lastVerified":"2026-07-15T01:49:08.883810095Z"}}
