{"id":"CVE-2022-21718","aliases":["GHSA-3p22-ghq8-v749"],"url":"https://o3.security/vulnerability/CVE-2022-21718","summary":"Renderers can obtain access to random bluetooth device without permission in Electron","details":"Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. A vulnerability in versions prior to `17.0.0-alpha.6`, `16.0.6`, `15.3.5`, `14.2.4`, and `13.6.6` allows renderers to obtain access to a bluetooth device via the web bluetooth API if the app has not configured a custom `select-bluetooth-device` event handler. This has been patched and Electron versions `17.0.0-alpha.6`, `16.0.6`, `15.3.5`, `14.2.4`, and `13.6.6` contain the fix. Code from the GitHub Security Advisory can be added to the app to work around the issue.","published":"2022-03-22T16:25:12Z","modified":"2026-08-12T03:51:35.521430737Z","cvss":{"score":3.4,"severity":"LOW","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:N/A:N"},"epss":null,"cisaKev":null,"exploitsKnown":0,"affectedPackages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","fixedVersion":"13.6.6"},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","fixedVersion":"14.2.4"},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","fixedVersion":"15.3.5"},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","fixedVersion":"16.0.6"},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","fixedVersion":"17.0.0-alpha.6"}],"fix":{"url":"https://github.com/electron/electron/pull/32178","label":"electron/electron#32178"},"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2022/21xxx/CVE-2022-21718.json"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/electron/electron/security/advisories/GHSA-3p22-ghq8-v749"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2022-21718"},{"type":"FIX","url":"https://github.com/electron/electron/pull/32178"},{"type":"FIX","url":"https://github.com/electron/electron/pull/32240"}],"provenance":{"sources":["OSV.dev","FIRST.org (EPSS)"],"lastVerified":"2026-08-12T03:51:35.521430737Z"}}
